Breakout Stars of 2009

The Daily Beast has picked Taylor Lautner and Cam Gigandet to be amoung their breakout stars of 2009 list! Check out the article here.

Cam Gigandet

Some teen-TV fans may remember Cam as the guest character on The O.C. responsible for killing off Mischa Barton, but he’s going to be known for much more than Marissa-cide after this year. Cam has a whopping seven movies in production for 2009—and those are just the ones that have been officially announced. After his breakout role as a pale vampire in last fall’s Twilight, Cam will appear in Pandorum (a thriller about a spaceship with Dennis Quaid), Five Star Day (a coming of age story with Jena Malone), and Kid Cannabis (the true story of a 19-year-old millionaire pot dealer), among others.

Taylor Lautner

After originating the role of Jacob Black in the original crazy successful teen-vampires-stare-and-brood Twilight, there was talk Taylor Lautner wouldn’t be cast in the sequel. Fortunately, the director was convinced and Lautner is bulking up to play the older role in the follow-up New Moon, which will be rushed into theaters this November. Robert Pattinson, watch your back. Teen girls, get your screaming pipes ready.

Robert Pattinson Channels Artist Salvador Dalí

Twilight star Robert Pattinson can't always play a vampire heartthrob.

In his next movie, Little Ashes, set in 1922 and described by Variety as an "arty Bohemian romp," the London-born actor, 22, plays Spanish surrealist painter (1904-1989) Salvador Dalí as a young man – in love with the poet Federico GarcÍa Lorca, played by Javier Beltran.

The two meet at university, with Lorca attracted to what the movie's production notes call Dalí's "bizarre blend of shyness and rampant exhibitionism." Hey, beats a bite in the neck.

Little Ashes opens in late March.

Kristen Stewart "So Glad" Taylor Lautner's Back for Twilight Sequel

Twilight fans are pleased that Taylor Lautner has been rehired for the film's sequel -- and so is lead actress Kristen Stewart.

"I'm so glad they didn't have to find somebody else; we already had him!" she tells
MTV News. "I didn't understand all the deliberation on [whether to bring him back]. But now that it's set, we can all rest."

Lautner, 16, was worried he wouldn't be rehired because his character, Jacob Black, is totally different in New Moon: He's a foot taller and is supposed to look 25.

So he's packed on about 26 pounds of muscle.

Check out Taylor Lautner's stunning transformation.

"He's really buff!" Stewart says. "He definitely is. It took him a lot of time."

She says she is "really excited" to shoot New Moon later this year.

"It's such a machine now. All of a sudden, this movie has become [something bigger]," she says. "With all the expectations — usually, you make a movie and think, 'If it touches people, great; if it doesn't, then you move on to the next one, and no one's personally affected by it.' [But] everyone's really sensitive with any changes right now.

"Everyone needs to be on the same page to make the same movie [as the original Twilight was]," she goes on. "Or else it will be a very disoriented project."

She has faith in new director Chris Weitz.

"Chris is — on top of him being a really sweet guy — he is entirely devoted," Stewart says. "And he's very clearly not doing the movie just because it's the next big thing. He really likes it a lot."

Taylor Lautner Packs on 26 Lbs., Nears Weight Goal

Umm may I just say...DANG!!! Good job Taylor!

Taylor Lautner has almost reached his goal of gaining 29 lbs. for the Twilight sequel, New Moon.

"I've been working hard for eight or nine months, and I've put on about 26 pounds of muscle," he told Usmagazine.com Saturday at the Access Hollywood Golden Globes gifting suite in West Hollywood.

"I'm literally in the gym every single day for at least two hours a day," added the actor, 16.

"It's hard work," he told Us. "My motivation is basically my passion for the character of Jacob and the series. I want the fans to be proud of the movie, so I have to live up to Jacob."

Besides hitting the gym, "I'm trying to eat as much as possible," he said. "Basically I'm supposed to eat everything I can and try to keep it lean. Lean meats and veggies."

It was announced earlier this month that Lautner will return following weeks of questions about whether he could effectively portray his werewolf character (who grows a foot taller and looks 25 years old in the sequel). Most fans overwhelmingly wanted Lautner back.

Lautner told Us the support of Twilight has been "crazy."

"It's blown up into something we had no idea," he said, "so it's really exciting. I'm so thrilled to be a part of something like this."

New Moon begins shooting later this year.
